QOS 2012

Last week I attended the Quadrennial Ozone Symposium in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I presented my recent modelling work on the connection between trends in stratospheric ozone and trends in Antarctic sea ice.

It was great to be back in Toronto!

This week I am in Portland, OR for the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Open Science Conference (OSC). Yesterday I attended an early-career scientist worshop organized by the Association of Polar Early Careers Scientists (APECS). It was an excellent workshop!

The conference officially begins tomorrow. I will be presenting a poster Monday afternoon (2:30-4pm) in the "Natural and anthropogenic forcing on the Antarctic and Southern Ocean climate system" session and giving an oral presentation Tuesday afternoon (4pm) in the "Decadal time scale variability in the Antarctic and the Southern Ocean System" session.

Looking forward to a great week in Portland!

EGU and IPY 2012

Had an enjoyable time at the European Geosciences Union meeting in Vienna in April. I gave two oral presentations: "Estimating the influence of stratospheric processes on the Antarctic atmospheric energy budget" with M. Previdi, L. M. Polvani and B. Liepert and "Linear interference in stratosphere-troposphere interactions" with Paul Kushner.

Paul Kushner also presented our work from Smith et al. 2011 at the IPY conference in Montreal.

Upcoming conferences:

Jul 14-19: Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Open Science Conference, Portland, OR

Aug 27-31: Quadrennial Ozone Symposium, Toronto, Canada

Seminars on Science

Exciting news! I have recently been hired by the American Museum of Natural History as a course scientist for their online Climate Change course designed for teachers. The course is fantastic and the class discussions have been really inspiring so far! Check it out at:
